Two figures by a waterfall under pine trees in a circular landscape painting
A circular ink wash painting on a muted brown ground depicts a mountainous landscape with two figures. The upper portion of the circle is largely empty, a light brown expanse. In the upper right, a large, gnarled pine tree branch extends horizontally towards the center, its dark needles rendered with fine brushstrokes. Below and to the right, a steep, dark mountain or cliff face is covered with dense foliage, including more pine-like trees and broad-leafed trees resembling maples. A waterfall cascades down this right side, its frothy water depicted with light, swirling lines. At the lower left, two small figures are seated on rocky terrain near the base of the waterfall. One figure, dressed in light robes, faces right and appears to be gesturing towards the waterfall or the other figure. The second figure, also in light robes, is seated facing left, looking away. The foreground features dark, jagged rocks and turbulent water at the base of the waterfall. A small red seal mark is visible on the far right edge of the circular composition.
