A woman in blue nurses a baby, framed by a golden arch with inscribed text
The artwork is a vertical rectangular panel painting depicting a woman breastfeeding a baby, set within an ornate golden frame. The central figure is a fair-skinned woman with long, dark brown hair flowing over her shoulders. She wears a deep blue robe that drapes around her, revealing her right breast from which a fair-skinned baby suckles. The woman's eyes are downcast. Around her neck, she wears a delicate necklace with a small, dark, cross-shaped pendant. The baby, with light hair, is cradled in her left arm and partially covered by a blue cloth. A golden, stippled background radiates outwards behind the woman's head. The central image is enclosed by a golden, arched frame. Along the inner curve of this arch, dark blue text is inscribed. On the left side, the visible text reads: "domina angelorum latus". On the right side, the visible text reads: "latus et Diva". Below the main scene, a rectangular golden panel contains several lines of dark blue text. The first line is clearly visible: "Ista est illa de qua scriptum est in libro sapientiae: 'Ego mater pulchrae dilectionis et timoris et agnitionis et sanctae spei.'" The subsequent lines of text on this bottom panel are less distinct but appear to continue the inscription. The overall color palette is dominated by deep blues, gold, and the pale skin tones of the figures.
