Diptych: a man carrying a cross, and a standing man with a banner and soldiers
This vertical diptych is divided into two panels. The left panel shows a man carrying a large wooden cross, moving from the lower left towards the upper right. He wears a dark robe and a circlet of thorny branches on his head. The cross rests on his right shoulder, supported by a man in a brown robe to his left and pushed by a helmeted figure behind him. Another figure in green armor pulls the cross with a rope to the man's right. In the lower foreground, a small white and brown dog runs. In the upper background, three figures are on crosses atop a green hill, with smaller figures gathered below them under a pale blue sky. The right panel depicts a standing man in the center. He is mostly nude, draped in a vibrant red cloak that flows around his waist and legs. His right hand is raised, and his left hand holds a tall staff with a white banner featuring a red cross. He stands before a dark cave opening. Two soldiers are visible in the foreground: one in green armor stands to the man's left, holding a spear and looking down, while another in a red tunic and yellow boots slumps to the man's right. A third soldier in dark armor lies on his back in the very bottom foreground, looking up. In the upper background, a multi-towered stone castle sits on a green hill under a pale blue sky, with small figures walking on a path.
