Gilded altarpiece with a central Madonna and Child enthroned, flanked by four standing figures
A rectangular altarpiece features a central painted panel and four flanking panels, all set within an ornate gilded wooden frame. The frame has a dark, almost black frieze at the top, adorned with subtle gold decorative patterns. Two circular emblems, each with a red cross on a white field, are positioned on the left and right sides of this frieze. Below this, the main painted section is divided into five arched compartments by gilded columns. Each compartment features a figure or group of figures against a gold background, with many figures adorned with a patterned halo. In the central, largest arch, a female figure, identified as the Madonna, is seated on a throne, facing forward. She wears a dark blue robe and a gold crown, holding an infant, identified as the Child, dressed in white and red on her lap. The infant reaches out with one hand. Smaller winged figures, identified as angels, are visible in the gold background behind them. To the immediate left of the central figures, a bearded man stands, facing right. He wears a light brown robe, has bare feet, and holds a long staff in his left hand, pointing with his right. Further to the left, a man in a long red robe stands, facing right. He holds a blue book with a gold starburst design and a square object in his left hand. To the immediate right of the central figures, a man in a pinkish-purple robe stands, facing left, holding a closed red book in his left hand. Further to the right, a woman in a long green robe stands, facing left, holding a closed green book in her right hand. The base of the altarpiece is dark, featuring a thin gold band. Faint, partially visible Latin text is inscribed across the bottom of the painted panels.
