A dense cluster of bamboo stalks and leaves rendered in ink wash on a light background
A horizontal ink wash painting shows a dense cluster of bamboo rendered in varying shades of black and gray ink on a light, tan-colored background. On the left, several thick bamboo stalks rise vertically, some appearing lighter and more in the background, while others are darker and more prominent. These stalks show distinct nodes and segments. Interspersed among the stalks are numerous thin branches and smaller leaves, also in lighter ink washes. In the center and extending to the right, a large, prominent branch arches downwards, covered with numerous broad, dark ink leaves. These leaves are painted with strong, sweeping brushstrokes. Further to the right, more bamboo leaves and thinner branches are visible, some overlapping and creating depth. The background is largely empty. In the upper right corner, a vertical column of dark calligraphic text is present, reading from top to bottom: "宋蘇東坡墨竹真蹟神品". Below and to the left of this text, several red square seals are stamped onto the painting, with additional seals appearing in the lower right corner.
