Coastal landscape with rocky islands, pine trees, a small boat, and figures on calm water
The painting is a vertically oriented landscape depicting a coastal scene. The upper third of the image shows a light, hazy sky, transitioning to a pale yellow horizon line where distant, muted green mountains are visible. Below the horizon, light blue-grey water fills the middle and lower sections of the composition. Several rocky islands and cliffs emerge from the water, varying in size and proximity. In the midground, three prominent, rounded rock formations rise from the water, each topped with sparse green pine trees. The largest of these, on the left, features a natural archway at its base. Further back, more indistinct landmasses with trees line the distant shore. In the lower right foreground, a large, irregular rocky outcrop extends into the water, also adorned with a few gnarled pine trees. To the left of this outcrop, a small, narrow boat floats on the water. One figure stands in the stern, holding a long pole, while two other figures sit in the middle of the boat. The water around the boat and islands is a slightly darker blue-grey, with subtle ripples indicated by horizontal brushstrokes. A vertical column of dark script and a red seal are visible on the right side of the water, near the foreground island.
