Two birds in flight, one with open beak, above sparse reeds in an ink painting
The artwork is a monochrome ink painting on a light, off-white ground. Two birds are depicted in flight, with sparse reeds in the lower portion of the composition. The upper bird, positioned in the upper right quadrant, is smaller and shown with its wings spread wide, angled downwards. Its head is lowered, and its body is rendered with darker gray and black ink on its back and wings, contrasting with a lighter belly. The lower bird, larger and positioned centrally, also has its wings spread, but its body is more horizontal. Its head is tilted slightly upwards, and its beak is open. This bird features a dark gray back and wings, a distinct white chest and throat, and a dark stripe through its eye. Below the birds, in the lower third of the painting, several thin, dark ink strokes represent reeds or tall grasses. They emerge from the bottom edge, extending diagonally upwards towards the center right. Some subtle, lighter gray washes are visible in the background, particularly in the lower left, creating a misty or watery appearance. In the lower right corner, black calligraphy is arranged vertically, which reads "玉峯". Below this, a square red seal is visible.
