A vertical ink painting depicts a standing, robed, bearded figure with an earring, beneath calligraphic text
A vertical ink painting on a light-colored ground depicts a standing figure, framed by a light brown border and decorative green patterns at the top and bottom. The central panel features a full-length figure, rendered in varying shades of gray and black ink, occupying the lower two-thirds. The figure faces left in profile, with a dark, hooded head covering. A visible ear sports a circular earring, and a dark beard extends from the chin. The body is enveloped in a long, flowing robe, depicted with broad, vertical brushstrokes. The robe appears dark gray, with lighter areas suggesting folds. The figure's bare feet are visible at the very bottom of the robe. Above the figure, in the upper right quadrant, is a block of vertical calligraphic text in black ink, which reads from right to left: "落草求人 作麼生 半弱抽身 主過梁觀". To the right of this main text, a smaller column of text reads "達磨化二祖斷臂圖". Below the smaller text, and again in the lower right corner of the central panel, are two red square seal marks.
