Ink landscape on a fan: mountains, a river, and dense trees under a light sky
The fan-shaped painting is rendered in black ink on a light-colored surface. The fan itself has a thin, light pink border. The painting depicts a mountainous landscape with water and trees, executed with varying shades of ink wash and brushstrokes. On the left side of the fan, a series of mountains are depicted with lighter ink washes, creating a sense of depth. Above these mountains, in the upper left quadrant, there is a vertical inscription of black characters, followed by a small, square red seal and a smaller rectangular red seal below it. The characters appear to be: 戊午秋日 寫於 清涼山館. Below these distant mountains, a body of water, possibly a river or lake, extends horizontally across the middle ground. The central and right portions of the painting feature more prominent and densely rendered mountains. These mountains are depicted with darker, more textured ink strokes, creating a sense of closer proximity and ruggedness. Numerous trees, varying in size and density, are clustered along the base and slopes of these mountains, particularly in the mid-ground. Some trees appear as dense groves, while others are more sparsely distributed. A narrow strip of water is visible between the landmasses in the lower center, leading towards the right. The foreground on the right side consists of rocky formations and sparse vegetation, rendered with detailed brushwork. The sky above the mountains is left largely unpainted, creating a sense of open space.
