A wisteria vine with pale flowers hangs over water, next to a large brown rock or trunk
A vertical composition is set against a light, creamy beige background. A large, irregular mass of mottled dark brown and lighter brown occupies the entire right side of the image, extending from the top edge to the bottom edge. This mass has a textured appearance, suggesting a rock face or a tree trunk, with darker brown areas and lighter, almost golden-brown specks. From the upper right and central areas, a wisteria vine descends. It features numerous small, light green leaves arranged in pairs along slender stems. Clusters of small, pale, pendulous flowers, appearing light brown or faded purple, hang from the vine. Several thin, winding tendrils extend from the main vine, reaching upwards and to the left, with some delicate, light brown leaf-like shapes at the very top left. In the lower left quadrant, a body of water is depicted with a few concentric, thin, light brown lines that suggest ripples on the surface. Two small, dark brown, elongated shapes, possibly water plants or floating leaves, are visible within these ripples. A few smaller, darker brown specks are also present in the water. In the lower right corner, a vertical inscription in dark brown brushstrokes reads "応挙". This is followed by a small, square red seal containing illegible white characters.
