Towering mountains shrouded in mist, with water, boats, and buildings below
A painting executed in varying shades of black ink on a light, yellowish-brown ground is presented within a decorative border. A large, dark mountain range dominates the upper left and central portions of the composition, characterized by numerous peaks and textured surfaces created with dense, short brushstrokes. A horizontal band of lighter, misty areas extends across the middle of the painting, partially obscuring the base of the central mountains. To the far left, a tall, narrow peak rises from the mist, while in the background, several lighter, more subtly rendered mountain forms recede into the distance. Below the mist, in the lower left quadrant, a body of water features a small, open boat with a canopy, containing a single figure. On the near bank of this water, a few small buildings are visible among sparse trees. On the right side of the painting, another expanse of water leads to a cluster of multi-tiered buildings, possibly pavilions or temples, nestled on a lower landmass. These structures are surrounded by trees and smaller, rocky formations. A steep, dark cliff face descends into the water on the far right. In the upper right corner, vertical lines of black text are present, accompanied by two small, square red seals. The characters read: 蝦蠏畫.
