Two vertical ink paintings depicting cranes: one standing with an open beak, the other bending near bamboo
Two vertical scroll paintings, rendered in ink wash on light brown paper, are displayed side-by-side. The artwork depicts two cranes in a natural setting. The left scroll shows a tall crane standing prominently on a grassy bank in the foreground, facing slightly left. Its long neck is extended upwards, and its beak is open. The crane's body is primarily white with dark, possibly black, feathers on its wingtips and legs. Its long, slender legs end in splayed feet. Behind the crane, a body of water stretches horizontally, with a faint, lighter horizon line. Sparse, dark, pointed vegetation, resembling distant pine trees, appears on the far bank. The lower left corner contains red seals and faint, dark script. The right scroll depicts another crane, partially obscured by a large, dark bamboo stalk that dominates the right side of the scroll. This crane is positioned to the left of the bamboo, with its head bent downwards. Its body is also white with dark markings. The bamboo stalk is thick and segmented, with several slender branches bearing dark, pointed leaves extending to the left. A faint red circular mark is visible near the top right, adjacent to the bamboo. Grassy banks and faint vegetation are also present in the background, similar to the left scroll. Red seals are visible in the upper right corner.
