A small bird perches on a branch with leaves, looking up, within a decorative scroll painting
The image is a vertical scroll with a central panel and decorative borders. The central panel is a light, warm beige or tan color. In the lower right quadrant, a small, light-colored bird with a dark eye perches on a thin, dark branch. Its head is tilted upwards, and its beak is slightly open. Its feathers are rendered with subtle gray and white washes. Below and to the left of the bird, a cluster of broad, dark green leaves with reddish stems is attached to another branch. Some leaves have a reddish tint at their tips. Above the bird, in the upper right, another thin branch extends downwards and to the left, with a few small, light green leaves and reddish buds. The background of the central panel is mostly empty, a uniform light tan. In the lower right corner of the central panel, there are two columns of dark vertical characters, followed by two small red square seals. The characters appear to be in a calligraphic style. The central panel is framed by a narrow border with a light gold, swirling floral or vine pattern. Outside this narrow border, the wider outer borders are a light olive green with a repeating pattern of overlapping fan shapes.
