Two hanging scrolls with ink paintings: a bird on a branch with a long line, and a bird with a large floral element
Two tall, rectangular hanging scrolls are displayed side-by-side against a light background. Each scroll features a central light beige panel with an ink painting, framed by decorative borders. The top and bottom sections of both scrolls are a light, mottled golden-brown, with two dark, chain-like hangers attached to the top of each. Below the top section, a wider reddish-brown band with dark, stylized floral motifs frames the painting panel. A narrow black band with small, gold, repeating geometric shapes borders the top and bottom of the central painting area. The side borders of the painting panel are also reddish-brown with dark floral motifs. Light-colored rollers are visible at the very bottom of each scroll. On the left scroll, a small, dark bird with a lighter belly perches on a thin, gnarled branch rendered in light gray and black ink washes. The branch extends from the lower left, curving upwards. A very long, thin, dark vertical line extends from near the bottom of the panel almost to the top, passing behind the bird and branch. Sparse, delicate ink splatters or small leaves are visible around the branch. A small, red, rectangular seal and some black calligraphic marks are in the lower left. On the right scroll, a small, dark bird, similar in appearance to the one on the left, faces left and perches on a thick, gnarled branch or trunk, also rendered in light gray and black ink washes. Above and to the right of this bird, a large, dense cluster of ink-washed leaves or petals forms a prominent floral or plant element. A small, red, rectangular seal and some black calligraphic marks are in the lower right.
