Dark grapes and broad leaves on a vine, with black calligraphy above, in an ink wash painting
A vertical rectangular composition features a light, untextured paper at its center, framed by decorative borders. In the upper right quadrant of the paper, a column of black calligraphic text is present. The text reads: "紫自雷霜珠 碎泉間烏孩 拾口老詩葉 研中臣左海". Immediately to the left of the final character of the calligraphy, a small, square red seal is visible. The lower half of the paper displays an ink wash painting of a vine with grapes and leaves. A cluster of dark, round grapes hangs towards the lower left, rendered in the darkest ink. Above and to the right of this cluster, several broad, lobed leaves are depicted using varying shades of gray and black ink washes, creating a sense of depth and texture. Thin, dark vine tendrils extend from the main cluster, curving upwards and to the left, and also horizontally to the right. Another, smaller cluster of grapes is partially visible among the leaves to the right of the main cluster. In the lower right corner of the painted area, a larger, rectangular red seal is stamped. The central paper is bordered at the top and bottom by a narrow band of dark brown fabric with a subtle, repeating pattern. This dark band is then bordered by a wider, light gold fabric with a woven, intricate floral or scroll pattern.
