Abstract ink painting with layered rock formations left, vertical calligraphy and red seals right
The artwork is a horizontal rectangular painting on a light, off-white paper, set within a light brown wooden frame. The left two-thirds of the paper are dominated by an abstract, organic form resembling a large, jagged rock or mountain. This form is rendered primarily with black ink washes, ranging from dark, solid lines defining its edges and crevices to lighter, translucent grey washes for its body. Interspersed within the black and grey washes are areas of light reddish-brown and subtle hints of light blue or grey, giving the form a textured, layered appearance. Small, dark speckles are scattered around its base and edges. To the lower right of this large form, a smaller, darker, more solid rock-like shape is depicted, also in black ink washes. The right third of the paper features several vertical columns of black ink calligraphy. The specific characters of the calligraphy are not discernible. Interspersed among the calligraphy and near the painted elements are multiple red square and rectangular seals. While some seals appear to contain characters, these are also not discernible. One seal is in the upper right corner, another below the first column of text, and several more are clustered near the bottom of the calligraphy and the painted forms. A small red seal is also visible in the bottom left corner of the paper.
