A vertical ink wash painting depicts a towering mountain landscape with a river, trees, and small structures
A vertical ink wash painting, primarily in black ink on light, aged paper, depicts a mountainous landscape. A towering, rugged mountain range dominates the left side, extending from the top edge down to the middle. Its peaks are rendered with dark, textured brushstrokes, suggesting craggy surfaces and deep crevices. To the right of the main mountain, a valley opens up, revealing a body of water that flows from the upper middle towards the bottom. The water surface is mostly blank. Along the banks of the water, smaller hills and landmasses are covered with various trees. Some trees have dense foliage, while others appear bare or sparsely branched, particularly in the upper right and middle sections. In the mid-ground, on the left bank of the water, two small figures are visible, possibly seated or resting on a rocky outcrop. Further down, a small, arched bridge spans a narrow section of the water, connecting two landmasses. Below the bridge, on the lower left, several small, simple structures with peaked roofs are nestled near the water's edge, resembling houses or boats. The upper right portion of the painting contains vertical lines of text in black ink, accompanied by two square red seals. The text reads: 大清乾隆二十二年九月 寫於京師 石濤筆意.
