A vertical scroll painting depicts red and white flowers and green leaves on a light background
A tall, vertical scroll painting depicts flowers. The scroll has solid brown sections at the top and bottom. The central painted area is framed by a patterned border, which has a light green background with a repeating geometric pattern of darker green squares. Inside this green border, directly framing the painting, is a narrow band of dark blue with a swirling, wave-like pattern in lighter blue or gold. The central painting is on a light cream or beige background. It depicts a cluster of flowers and foliage, primarily in the lower right and center of the composition, extending upwards. Several large, full-bloomed flowers are visible; some are bright white with slightly ruffled edges, while others are a vibrant, solid red, also with ruffled edges. Dark green and brownish-green leaves and stems support the flowers. The leaves are broad and somewhat irregular in shape. The flowers are arranged in a loose cluster, with some white flowers at the bottom, red ones interspersed higher up, and more white flowers towards the top. One unopened bud is visible near the top right, on a slender stem. A faint, circular red seal or mark is visible in the lower right portion of the painted area, partially obscured by foliage. Some faint, light lines are visible in the upper left, possibly indicating a previous sketch or faint inscription.
